Week 43

Remember the Karel Srba scandal, last week?
Thanks to Radio Free Europe in Prague, I have now located Srba's girlfriend, Eva
Tomsovicova.

"Eva Tomsovicova
A Suspected Accomplice Says She Spent Years Collecting
Bribes Related to Ministry Contracts
Suspected Srba accomplice Eva
Tomsovicova told police that for three years she has been working for
Srba
"
Here's my bet on what really went down here. Eva
Tomsovicova found out that journalist Sabina Slonkova, another woman,
was about to expose her sugar-daddy in the newspapers. So she, Eva, took
a big wad of Srba's cash over to the scariest, heaviest guy she knew,
"the Lemon," and told him to hit Sabina in the face with an axe. That
wasn't a smart idea, and "the Lemon" was not the kind of guy a pro would
ever trust, but you know, Eva was all upset.
Check out these sites. Man, Deep Europe is another universe.

I had no idea there were so many search engines for physical
regions.

This is cute. There's a little regional map of London and people are sticking
blogs in it.

Whoa. This Portuguese guy named Nuno Miranda is a loving devotee of
American and British pulp magazines. And his webpages look like
yellowing pulp. Nice design move!

This is the best part: I'm in Texas, blogging a Portuguese pulp
adventure magazine about the fantastic life in Texas. I love that
kind of global blowback. Check out that cool mag called "Martyrdom of
the Blonde Virgin." Stuff like that happens in Texas all the
time. Like, when you're commuting to your dayjob at Dell.

I never knew all that about Talbot Mundy. Man, now *that* is a pulp
writer. The guy is a complete shyster con-man delusionary Theosophical
lunatic with a string of wives as long as your arm.; That cracks me up.
Boy, those were heroic days.
Bruce Sterling writes books like Darwin watched animals. Find out more about him,
and read tattered electronic copies of Cheap Truth, at the
Bruce Sterling Online Index.
He lives with his wife Nancy and their two daughters in Austin, Texas.
